May 11, 2010
RME Senior Engineer Cliff Goudey represented RME at the “Marine Energy and Smart Grid Technology Workshop” which took place May 10th and 11th in Dublin, Ireland and Belfast, Northern Ireland. The workshop was sponsored by the United States Embassy in Dublin, in conjunction with the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (Ireland), and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (Northern Ireland). The invitation-only workshop brought together senior government officials, business leaders, representatives of trade associations, the offshore renewable power and transmission sectors and research institutions from the USA, Ireland and Northern Ireland, with the objective of developing collaborative projects and exploring new business opportunities. The focus will be both offshore marine electricity generating devices and the application of smart grid management tools that can assist in integrating intermittent power onto and throughout the system.
